Glycolic acid

Glycolic acid is highly acclaimed for its remarkable exfoliating and rejuvenating properties. Its small molecular size enables deep skin penetration, fostering efficient exfoliation at the cellular level.

Glycolic acid’s water solubility allows it to penetrate the upper layers of the skin easily. Its primary mechanism of action involves weakening the bonds between dead skin cells, promoting their shedding, and revealing the newer, healthier skin beneath. This process of accelerated cell turnover is instrumental in addressing a range of skin concerns, from aging signs like fine lines and wrinkles to texture irregularities and hyperpigmentation.

Glycolic acid's efficacy extends beyond mere exfoliation. It's also recognized for stimulating collagen production, a crucial protein in maintaining skin's elasticity and firmness. This aspect contributes to its anti-aging benefits. Furthermore, its hydrating properties add to its appeal, as they help increase the skin's capacity to retain moisture, leading to a more supple and vibrant complexion.

Clinical studies have consistently supported glycolic acid's role in improving skin appearance. Research indicates significant improvements in skin texture and pigmentation and the visible reduction of wrinkles and fine lines with glycolic acid.

Evening

  • Application time: Evening.
  • Frequency: Once per week, up-titrating frequency of use as tolerated.

1. Cleanse

  • Start with clean and dry skin.
  • Use your DermExcel cleanser to remove dirt and excess oil from your skin.

2: Apply

  • Dispense a small amount of product onto your fingertips.
  • Apply evenly over your face or on body areas of concern.
  • Avoid sensitive areas, e.g., the eyes and lips.

Important note

  • Start by applying this exfoliator one evening per week. After one week, increase usage to two evenings a week.
  • Observe how your skin responds and adjust usage accordingly.
  • You may use this treatment every second night if you don't have sensitive skin.
  • Don't apply any other product to the area treated with your exfoliating treatment. The other product may alter the pH of the active ingredients, lowering the product's potency.
  • This exfoliating treatment promotes skin peeling by effectively removing dead skin cells. Peeling is a normal reaction and not a sign of skin dryness. You should notice decreased peeling as the product works to exfoliate dead skin.
  • You may notice a slight stickiness on your skin after applying your exfoliating product. This sensation is typical due to the hydroxyethylcellulose, a thickening agent that helps the treatment adhere to the skin. This allows the active ingredients to work effectively throughout the night by promoting exfoliation and cell turnover. Embrace this as a sign that the active ingredients are set to rejuvenate your skin while you sleep without the inconvenience of daytime residue.
  • Always use SPF 30 or greater during the day.
